Did you all see the Biggest L*ser last night? If not, here's a recap...
Maggie got voted off in the beginning of the show. The rest of the crew got makeovers and they all look so awesome! Tim Gunn helped with those makeovers and picked wonderful outfits for each person. They will appear in Prevention magazine in the current issue!
In hearing their comments after their makeovers were complete, it reminds us all why we work out and try and eat as healthy as possible. Yes, it's terrific to buy new clothes and all but it's even better to be able to DO the things you want in life. So many people (and all those on the BL TV show) struggle with weight at different times in their lives, or all their lives, and they can't do certain things.
They can't ride on major theme park rides, buy clothes in a 'regular' store, fit in one airline seat or even in a small bathroom stall and you know what? That s*cks. I was personally never large enough that it impeded me in those ways, but it sure did in other ways.
And, once you lose the weight you're almost not sure who you are! Many of us still dress the 'larger' body that was there before-buying larger sizes than we need. I was lucky, I had K to go shopping with me (yes, she DID shop back then-at least for a little while, HAHA) and remind me that I wasn't a certain size anymore. I still struggle with that, at times buying clothes a bit too large and having to return. I need to try everything on and, even now, I won't buy certain things that I'm sure would look good on me, but I still that larger girl I used to be.
And, this is why we measured you for the Challenge instead of weighing you. We want to quantify all your work and really let you SEE the changes, even if you can't yet fully feel them.
So, try and really SEE yourself when you look in the mirror and say GOOD things about yourself. And, if you're one of those folks who nitpicks at yourself constantly, try putting some positive affirmation on your mirror on a little sticky note...just one NICE thing about YOU! (and each person in your family could have their own sticky too)
Because, just like those courageous folks on the BL TV show...you need to really *feel* the wonderful changes health and fitness bring and enjoy the moment!

uI too shop for the larger body that i once was. The one that didn't fit in a bathroom stall, or just fit in a plane seat. I had to shop in a stores that carried 24 and 26's . It was not fun. Needless to i'm down to a 14 and still can't shop. My closet is cleaned out of all the 18's and up and is now empty but for a few 16s as i can't find skirts in 14s that i think look good. If we could all have a personnal shopper to help us i think shopping would be fun and those that are like would understand how far we have come and good we can look if we only knew how to dress.
