TGIF people!
The sun is shining...for now. We are due for a deluge of water tonight and into tomorrow. Remember, only 'witches' melt, so make sure you get up and out to class!
As the weekend rolls around, we all have places to go and people to see. How do you stay on track with showers, parties, date night with the husband or running around dropping kids off at their different activities? Here are some tips:
-If you've got parties to go to, don't go HUNGRY. Make sure you eat something healthy before you leave the house. If you arrive ravenous, you'll just hit up the appetizer table as if it were the meal! And, drink a whole bottle of water on the way to your event...this will also help you ease into the party (food-wise) and not park yourself in front of the dip! And, if you've been asked to bring something to contribute to the food items, make yours healthy so you know you'll have at least something good to fall back on in the middle of all those high fat treats!
-Going out to dinner? Again, don't go STARVING or that bread basket may have to be refilled a few times! In fact, don't let your server even put that bread basket on the table! You could seriously take in 200-300 calories before your appetizer and drinks arrive! And, think about splitting the appetizer and dessert with your significant other or friend. And, by the way, how BIG IS THAT ENTREE???? If it'll feed a small country then don't eat the whole thing. I know...you love it, that's why you chose that restaurant but seriously, do you need 3 cups of pasta in one meal? Uh, no. You can enjoy it tomorrow for lunch if you just pace yourself and eat 1/2! Does this take a little discipline? Uh, yeah. But only YOU are responsible for what goes into your mouth...and you'll feel better too!
-Running around all day Sat. dropping kids off at soccer, birthday parties or sitting at hockey practice? Pack some good snacks for you and the kids and avoid the drive thru! Even bringing fruit or crackers will help fuel the kids for practice and save you money!
-And, speaking of saving money...did you know that simply packing your lunch for work 2 weeks out of the month can save you $100 or more??? Plus, you can make that sandwich just like you want it without 'hoping' the guy or gal behind the counter does what you ask! Less stress AND more money!!! Oh and coffee...now I love a DD coffee just like all of you. But, I decided to make my coffee (I do by the DD ground coffee I like) at home Monday through Friday...this saves me over $500 per year and once you get in the habit-it's great! I don't have to worry about sugar in my coffee (I like mine cream only) and that money gets used for holiday shopping!
Right now we're all looking for tips to be healthy and fit AND save some money (because, let's face it, all the funds we have MUST go into that gas tank right now...) so we hope this tips inspire and help you all!
See you in class!
