HI All,
(Gentleman, this post is *not* for you!)
Ladies, hands up for all those who *hate* your 'ladies days' (aka period, Aunt Flo....)!!!
My hand is up, BTW.
Seriously, when you're done needing it biologically speaking why doesn't it just stop?
And, why is it that every freakin' month the 'fun' is different?
For instance:
1. Body aches (is it the flu? or just 'that time again'?)
2. Everything hurts (toes, hair, teeth...yes I said hair)
3. Everything bugs the living s*it out of you (including your spouse's breathing...yes, I said breathing)
4. You drop everything, cut your finger buttering toast and can't seem to talk (yes, I said can't seem to talk)
5. Every car that gets in front of you is going 20 mph-even on the highway (or is that back to #3 above?)
6. Every woman has different symptoms so you try and vent to each other but then her symptoms start bugging you (see #3 above again)
7. Chocolate seems to have become a serious food group and you're also eating other things you 'never' eat otherwise (and, conversely, then get bloated and see #3 above again)
8. This is how you know God is a man because no woman would put the rest of us through all this crap!
Ahh, so here's to our 'ladies days'...and here's hoping (for me anyway) they're over permanently soon!!

You get what you get and you don't get upset...
Unless you're a Russian skater who is throwing a temper tantrum (a la a 5 year old) because he didn't win the Gold medal.
Talk about 'bad sports'...I think we're all taught that if we don't win, we graciously congratulate the one who did and move on. I guess they don't teach that in some school systems in the world.
Check out perezhilton.com for info on the Russian skater who literally awarded HIMSELF a platinum medal (which doesn't exist) for his performance at the Vancouver Olympics. He posted it all over his website and basically says he was robbed.
Ok, listen...it's a judged sport and, admittedly, I am certainly NO authority on the subject. Plus, I didn't even watch the event. But, I know a cry baby when I see one (or hear about one).
Lord man get over yourself. Pull your damn skate laces up and try again in 4 years. Nobody gets everything they want or even deserve in life. It's called "life isn't fair". We all have to learn that and it can sting, but remember that the true measure of your character is how you deal with adversity, not only how you deal with the good stuff.

Battle of the old bats
HI All,
Monday and it's beautiful out...the rest of the week? Not so much. The damn groundhog was WRONG again-I think Spring isn't coming AT ALL!
Ok, so I stopped into Roche Brothers (market) to get a couple items I needed...one of which was my husband's deli for his lunches. So, Roche Brothers USED to have the fastest deli in the area but not anymore. And, they DO NOT use the GD number system like they should so it leaves 4-8 people standing there, no line, no numbers being used and so you're 'on your honor' when they ask 'Who is next?'.
So, I go up to the deli and there are 2 ladies in front of me and one older gentleman. Ok, no problem...I know that I am #4. So, the 2 ladies finish, then the guy and, in the meantime, an old BAT walked up and stood further down the deli counter. Then, when the deli guy went to say "Who is next?" She tries to look pathetic and all like SHE is next and goes to put her hand up, indicating SHE is next. Uh, NO I'm not having it. I FLING my arm up in my best Jazz stretch and say, "I AM NEXT." She glares at me as if, "I'm older and you should let ME go first..." NOTHING DOING you old bat, wait your turn.
Here's the thing...
Just because you're older than me does NOT mean you can shove me (I have been physically SHOVED out of a line by an oldster in the past), pretend you're next or act like your entitled just because you've been on this earth longer than I have. We ALL need to wait I turn, I do, you should.
Oh and when the only reason you're in the store is because you're PANICKING...YET AGAIN because a storm is coming, sorry, but that's DOUBLE the reason for me NOT to let you go first, especially when it's NOT your turn.
(Yes, I am pms'ing...what of it?)
So, to all those who DO wait their turn, thank you. To those of you who think you don't have to-GET OVER YOURSELF. You are no better than the rest of us and if I was in line before you, wait your turn...if you were there before me, I WILL wait my turn!
Now, get out there and PANIC...snow is coming...again.

TGIF
HI All,
Thank God it's over 40 degrees and I can see blue sky...winter seems to get longer every year and I'm ALL SET!
Some miscellaneous observations:
-Lots of people drifting out of their lanes, pulling out in front of me and generally driving like crap today. If you're on the road-BE careful!
-Tiger Woods-I heard the speech live and it sounded heartfelt to me. He takes personal responsibility, of which I'm a huge fan. He's right-the rest of it is THEIR business so let's all move on. I hope he gets well (as he says, he's getting help) and can repair his family. THAT is what is important. My favorite part-in straight talk him saying he was a 'cheater' and was 'unfaithful'. He admitted he thought the rules didn't apply to him. Again, straight talk and anyone who does that has my 'vote'.
-The weirdness continues at the leather store in our mall. When I say that place draws in 'colorful characters' that is a huge understatement.
-Tonight is pizza night at Camp P&P-LOVE Drum Hill Pizza. Go visit Joe, his pizza rocks!
-PT is helping my ROM (range of motion) and I am in the pool 1x per week on my own. The pool really makes a huge difference and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to take advantage of it during the winter months. In the summer, I'll use our pool at home!
-Olympics-Lysacek wins. AWESOME. No, I didn't watch. While I totally support Team USA I simply CANNOT miss RHofOC...
-RH of OC,NY,NJ...I saw a preview online of the new season of NY...WHOA. Can't wait for Jersey to return and the OC? Alexis needs to GET OVER herself.
-Lilly is sleeping in front of the front door of the Center and she looks so peaceful...love her!
Ok, off to put together a killer (I mean challenging..haha) set for you all this weekend!

Vonn-derful
Hi Everyone and Happy Thursday!
I watch the Olympics here and there and I definitely wanted to see how Lindsay Vonn (USA skiier) did in her 1st race last night. Mr. P&P raced in High School and College and so we watch the skiing pretty closely...
And, as an injured athlete (certainly NOT Olympic caliber of course...) myself, I can relate to some of what Lindsay was saying in recent interviews. She was worried, working hard to manage her injury but undeterred in doing her job. Seeing her win a GOLD medal was AWESOME and when she flung herself down after she was done, knowing she did it, it was just inspiring. It was like all that pent up energy just let go and off she went to hug family and friends. You go girl!
Many times when we're training instructors they ask us, "How do you get up there when you're sick?" (or pms'ing or with an injured ankle, hip, foot...etc.) The answer is, "You just do."
Once the girls start teaching the totally understand it.
It's hard to explain to the general public but when you have a job like ours, everything falls away when you get up on stage and start teaching. You are doing your job, focusing all your energy on giving the best class, showing your movements and hitting all those dance subtleties. And, all your love of what you do just comes out and that adrenaline gets you through it all. Plus, you feel the weight (in a good way) of all your clients wanting (and deserving) a great class and a good show.
So, here's to Lindsay Vonn and all the other World athletes who are out there working through injuries, winning for Country and giving us all the show of a lifetime!

WOW!
Hi All,
So, we've survived yet another snowstorm. It was later than 'they' said, but it did arrive and drop about 7-8 inches of snow on our area.
It's always dicey to decide whether or not to have class-yesterday morning was easy, it was barely snowing (and not snowing at all at times) so all 3 AM classes went off without a hitch.
By the afternoon, we had serious snow falling by about 3pm so we went ahead with 4:30pm and 6pm...no 7:30pm. We just felt the later class would be too much for folks, it would be getting icy by then, and best to be safe all around. Plus, our instructor drives from about 30 minutes away for that class while our other 2 instructors are nearby.
So, for the afternoon we had ELEVEN die hards in class! WHOA...we were totally impressed and happy to see everyone!
For the evening, ONE fabulous trooper showed up plus our FAB instructor and class manager! (Again, WOW to Heidy G, Sharon W and, of course, Jill!)d
This would be why we try and hold classes, even when the snow flies. You guys always show up and it really humbles us to see how much you love our program-enough even to come out in crappy weather!
So, today the sun shines and we hope to see you ALL back in class tonight!

Country Stores...
Hi Everyone,
Well, it's now 11am and, while it is snowing lightly, it's not snowing to the level the weather people predicted last night....again they were wrong-SIGH! (They are still saying it will ramp up this afternoon so if you're planning on coming to classes this afternoon or tonight-call or check the website 1/2 hour prior to class time just in case...)
I needed to stop and get stamps today and I didn't feel like going into the 'big' Post Office either in Chelmsford or Westford so I stopped at a small country store in Westford that sells stamps. These places are few and far between but they are cool-selling everything from food to stamps to snow hats!
The lady was really nice, it was really quick (versus the 'real' Post Office where the postal workers move slower than most turtles) and she had me move over to a counter where there was an 'old time' window with those 'prison like' bars...it was nice to get my stamps quickly and support a small business too!
Anyway...I just thought I'd share a positive experience (it was Katie's Country Store in Westford) and put out a challenge to everyone to patronize SMALL, local businesses (uh, like the big J!!). When you own a family business like we do, it's not easy but we deeply appreciate every customer we have and that's NOT what goes on in those big chains.
Here's to small, local and family businesses and the care we truly feel for each of our customers!
Have a great day and hope to see you in class!

Valentine's Day

HI All,
TGIF! Thankfully, we dodged the big storm this week...don't get me started on how the weather folks can be WRONG more than half the time and still be employed. Seriously...
Valentine's Day is upon us and, while I do not generally get into 'fake' holidays, it is nice to have a day to focus on that special person in your life.
And, BTW, that special person can be YOU if you are single!
At the P&P ranch, we don't get a lot of time since we both work crazy hours and I especially am constantly at the Center...so, we use V-day as a great excuse for a date day.
Yes, it's true we have pedis together. We started this when Mr. P&P was teaching skiing more than he is now and, being that he has the flattest feet in history, they get sore. So, since our Day Spa has special pedis for every season, we started doing this a few years back. This year, it's Hot Chocolate Martini pedis. Yes, you get a chocolate martini (I'll have hot chocolate so Mr. P&P will get both martinis...yes, I'm driving) and they use cocoa products for your pedi. And, no, Mr. gets NO polish, before you ask. It's fun, relaxing and something different and I'm always so proud of my husband for not being shy about going into the spa for a pedi. We get the pedi room to ourselves and it's quiet and peaceful.
This year, we got a GREAT deal (http://www.hautelook.com/) on Omaha Steaks so we're having those for supper. The deal we got includes twice baked potatoes, veggies and the steaks. (For less than we'd pay for 2 dinners out and there is enough for 4 people in this deal!) Desserts courtesy of WF.
So, we'll be home with Lilly after our pedis, having a great supper and hanging out.
Oh and, true to form, I bought my own roses ($20 for 2 DOZEN, courtesy of WF)...because I hate overpriced flowers on V-day. They are gorgeous and we can all enjoy them!
I know that we all rush through our lives and don't take lots of time to appreciate those in our lives (I include myself) so, even if you think V-day is a crock of doodoo, at least time a moment to tell that special person in your life (your dog, cat, bird, SO, husband, girlfriend, sister, Mom, Dad, brother, child...or YOU) that you love them and appreciate them.
And, again, if you're single-do something nice for YOU. Because, truly for all of us, if you start the love with yourself, then you'll always have folks around you who love you.
See you in class!

And the Saints come marching in...
HI All and Happy Monday!
I think everyone in Boston can relate to the New Orleans Saints joy at winning the Super Bowl. Bourbon Street was rocking (I'm sure well into this morning) and they certainly deserved it.
Remember the first Red Sox World Series win???? Hmmm??? I remember watching that last game and just staring at the screen as they all jumped around, joyful for winning and all of us in Red Sox nation incredulous. I didn't want to shut off the TV because I thought maybe it wasn't real...but, thank God it was and our boys of summer actually WON!
So, to all those in New Orleans and the entire area-CONGRATS! It's so gratifying to see that a City that really needed that boost got it. They played amazing (yes, the JAP loves football people!) and, well, it's just the icing on the cake that PEYTON lost. What a whiner. Did you see that shot of him on the bench pouting? Huh?
Look, if OUR boys can't win then I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO glad the Saints did. Seeing Brees with his little son, crying his eyes out (Brees, not his baby) with joy was amazing. Go to Disney and have a BLAST!
And now....
Dear Tom and Coach Belchick;
Please make notes. The Saints were HUNGRY for this win. Did you see the need to GET Peyton BEFORE he can throw the ball? It's called a SACK-you need to re-learn how to use that.
Tom, if that skinny b*tch wife of yours even THINKS about getting pregnant again this season-JUST SAY NO. You need to focus. Patriots nation needs a win. Stop doing the laundry and going out to get her ice cream and FOCUS, man!
Coach B-back to basics please. We dominated for many years but I think complacency has set it-time to get back to it.
Alright, now let's all pray that our boys (Pats, Celts, Sox and B's) can WIN and get us back to some semblance of order around here!
For the moment-congrats Saints. Enjoy, you deserve it! Thanks for a great game day!

Puppy up!
HI All,
I usually watch the Today Show and, when I miss it, I catch it online while I'm working at the Center.
Today, I saw a wonderful story and I wanted to share a bit with all of you...
As you know, we lost our precious baby, Ally, to canine cancer in 2008. She was only 8 years old and the love of our lives. We treated for many months, with the help of the Tufts Animal Hospital, but, ultimately, God called her home.
Now that we have Lilly, we want to fight cancer even harder!
We give to a couple of canine cancer charities and the one shown today is amazing...
There is a guy from Texas who is walking from Austin to Boston in honor of his dog, who also died from cancer. He has two other dogs who are walking with him. They are camping out, sleeping in churches and bringing awareness to canine cancer research. This man is walking for the love of his baby and to try and bring attention to the blight that is canine cancer.
I just logged onto www.2dogs2000miles.org and ordered 2 bumper stickers.
His tag line is Puppy Up!...LOVE IT!
So, if you have or have ever had a dog you love please check it out and consider purchasing a cute item from their store to support this wonderful dog Daddy in his efforts to fight the cancer that takes our babies.
Together we can fight it!
Thank you and see you in class!

Hi all,
Do you ever feel like your car is invisible and that's why everyone is:
1. Pulling out in front of you so close that you MUST be invisible (especially if you're driving a HUGE SUV like I do)?
2. Literally BACK into traffic in front of you (out of a driveway) so you have to SLAM on your brakes?
3. STOP in the middle of the road for seemingly no reason in front of you?
(Cloaking device is a Star Trek term and do not even ask me how I know that...I'd like to FORGET!)
Today my HUGE SUV was, apparently, invisible because no less than 6 people pulled in front of me, stopped dead in front of me or did something else that is only explainable by my being invisible...people WAKE UP. (not you all-those drivers)
Be careful out there on the way to class!
