As requested...

The fabulous, nice, clean, friendly, quick service place I get my yearly inspection sticker is....

Triangle Service of Chelmsford.

They rock.

You can show up around 8am to get your sticker. They technically open at 7:30am but, I happen to know...the machine takes 30 minutes to warm up.

Monday Monday

Hi Everyone,
Hope you had a great weekend...at least Saturday was FABU in the weather department.
So, this morning I go to get my MA state inspection on Beloved MDX. Mr. P&P and I have our cars registered in the same month and same inspection month (not sure how that happened exactly) and he went last week. So, being that I wait until the LAST minute to give the State my $29, I went today...
I go to this great little service place in Chelmsford that K showed me way back when I moved up here in 1995. They are nice, quick and the place is clean!
I gave my check and registration (no wait...psych!) and they took Beloved MDX in. There was engine revving, horn blowing and turn signal flashing...as usual. The guy came back about 10 minutes later and I heard him tell the desk lady that he put 'something' on my passenger seat. OH NO...did something fall off Beloved MDX??!!
Uh, no.
The new State guidelines are that you may not have a license plate frame on your car's license plate, lest it obliterate ANY portion of the plate. Uh, it's a frame, it shows the WHOLE plate and the only thing it covers is the EDGES. Whatevs...
So, the J frame I had around my back plate is now on my passenger seat.
Ok people...
Mr. P&P will be putting it back ON.
I try not and be a rule breaker too much but this....is ridiculous.

Platinum!

Hi All,
We hope you had a great weekend and are holding on for dear life as we await the FEEL of Spring, though it's here it certainly doesn't FEEL like it!
On Sunday, we had our District Awards meeting in Providence RI at the lovely Westin Hotel. A few of the instructors went down the night before and had a FUN girls night out! And, they very nicely saved us a table (as the rest of us were rushing down after I taught classes) and we got there early enough to shop and get our luncheon plates before the meeting began.
We had all our instructors, except LH, with us. She is still on the mend and should pop up in class soon as she recuperates and gets back to teaching. We miss her and cannot wait to get her back!
We want to take a moment and thank PA, TD, JF, JL, KT, KF, TM, LD, and MB for attending the meeting, taking time away from their families and supporting our Center! (Sidebar-WOOHOO for D, owner of the Suds/Pepp Centers for her GOLD STATUS! It was precious that she saw SILVER, her name wasn't there and she thought she missed award status completely-uh, NO...GOLD instead!)
The way our meetings go is that we get our lunch and then our DM starts her presentation. At this meeting, those Center and Class Owners who have achieved award status get awards. She began the meeting with this and, for the 11th year in a row, we achieved Platinum (top) status. We deeply appreciate YOUR support-without each of you we certainly wouldn't be at the top and certainly not for the 11 years we have been. THANK YOU! Here's to year #12!!
So, awards complete we started on the 'business' stuff...all good stuff but, as you know, business meetings are not the most gripping/attention inspiring times.
We learned that we have another specialty class (ala Jazz to the MAX) coming in the Fall (focusing on LOWER body-WOOHOO) and a WAY cute summer tote, all polka dotted and fun. You'll team up with 2 friends (or make 2 new friends) and all you need to do is attend class to earn your FREE TOTE (with matching cosmetic bag no less).
We got to see a retrospective of J for the last 40 years and a terrific training DVD about intensity and putting together even better classes for you!
We also learned about an American Cancer Society benefit on April 25 with one of our MOST fabulous choreographers, T. Roberts! There's info on our website and it's a $30 donation for ACS...funk class, ballroom bounce and dancing abs-don't miss it! It's in RI, a short 1 hour drive away and they'll be food/fun served after the classes. We'll caravan down-so do not miss this! Sign up at the desk!
Well, Lilly is napping so it's time for me to get up and out for the day!
Thank you ALL for giving K and me the ability to do something we truly love for a living-we strive every day to give you the workouts and customer service (with a dash of fun) that you so richly deserve. We love you all!
See you all in class!

Great website to visit!

Hi Everyone,
I don't like to 'leave people out' (I love to be all-inclusive...) but I've found a great website for women over 40....www.wowowow.com. If you are in this age group (as am I...and K, no matter what she says) this is a great resource with some terrific stuff!
Check it out today!

Life is short...and that's an understatement.

Hi All,
While I would love to post about the success that was the 1st nutrition seminar (thanks Ginger) or that Spring f i n a l l y starts tomorrow...I feel I need to post about the tragic death of Natasha Richardson.

She was only 45 years old (the same age K and I will turn in 2009) and has 2 boys plus an entire family that loves her. She passed yesterday after what seemed to be a minor fall on the beginner slope of a ski resort in Canada.
She took a tumble and didn't seem hurt until about 1 hour later. Less than 48 hours thereafter, she is deceased.

No matter how famous, wealthy or safe you are, things can happen. You make a simple choice not to wear a helmet while taking a beginner ski lesson WITH an instructor and 2 days later you are lost to your family. Permanently.
Should she have been wearing a helmet? It's not for us to judge. Should you? Again, only you can decide.
But, I will tell you that it s*cks to be a kid who loses a parent. That, my friends, I know from personal experience. I know that my Dad NEVER would have eaten poorly, smoked like a chimney and avoided the doctor if he knew it would cause us to lose him as early in our lives as we did. I know that he never would have put us through that simply by making what turned out to be the wrong decision.
Now, I am NOT saying Ms. Richardson did anything wrong...at all! She had a tragic accident.
I'm simply trying to give us all food for thought. Every decision we make has consequences both positive and negative. We all just need to be mindful of that. And, it is usually not as a simple as to wear a helmet or not.
I hope we will all keep Natasha Richardson's husband, sons and extended family in our prayers. Her tragic death at such a young age reminds us all that life is way too short.

"Place your oxygen mask on first then..."

Hi All,
For the 2nd day in a row...
Happy Sunny Sunday!

In class today, we talked about making sure YOU are on your own list and, frankly, towards the top. Why?
Well, you know when you're on a flight and the flight attendants do their emergency presentation (you really should pay attention you know...think about those folks who survived the Hudson River NYC landing...) and they say, "If a loss of cabin pressure occurs, oxygen masks will drop...put yours on first then assist those around you."
Did you ever wonder why they say that? Well, of course, it's because if you cannot breathe you cannot help those around you!
So, it's the same thing with taking care of yourself (exercising, eating right...). If you can't 'breathe' you cannot care for those around you.
As women, we do a lot of caring...
-Kids
-Husband/significant other
-Home
-Work
-Extended family
-Friends
And 'self' usually gets whatever is leftover.

NOT GOOD people. (Guys shouldn't do it either BTW)
Do not give yourself just the 'leftovers' in your life...make sure you put your oxygen mask on first and then assist those around you.
Take care of yourself-mind, body and soul and you'll be a better:
-Mom
-Wife
-Daughter
-Sister
-Friend
-Co-worker
All of the above and more!
Be good to yourself because if you don't, nobody else will!

First foray into baking..

Hi All,

Happy Sunny Saturday!

As you all know, I don't really cook-I dabble in it but nothing serious. For some reason, I decided I really wanted to make cupcakes (which I love) and, of course, they have to be organic!

So...

Here they are. WF has great mixes (uh, you didn't think I was going to make them from scratch, did you? Seriously...) that are organic, including the icing. They are not overly sweet, all organic and EASY!
Oh and delicious!
Mr. P&P ate one in 2 seconds flat when he got home and even Lilly can have 'just the cake'...
So, for those who think WF is too expensive and too 'whatever'...you can get these mixes for small prices and get BIG smiles (plus did I mention...it's organic!).
Enjoy!

Friday the 13th!

Are you superstitious? I can be at times.
Thankfully, Beloved MDX is back and my rear end is back in the seat I love!
Every single person at the dealership said, "We've never heard of this problem, it's a new one!" Oh joy. BUT, we all did learn something, it'll help others when they switch on their rear wiper and their cargo light comes on and I got a reminder of how much I do NOT like a small car-even if it is cute. I also realize how lucky I am to have a good car and a dealer to take care of it when it goes whacko!

Mr. P&P took today off (he has a trip coming up so he tends to take some time off to spend with us before he goes) and he and Lilly are enjoying the day...walking, napping...visiting Grandma, making us blueberry pancakes for breakfast...it's great.

This weekend is due to be 50+, warm and sunny...
So don't forget to come to class, get your workout in and then go enjoy!

Car UPDATE!

Ok, dealer has called. No part today, which means my car will be done tomorrow.
Luckily, a loaned MDX is due back early this afternoon, so they'll call me and I swap out the BUG then.
So, the previous blog post will be the only evidence of my having driven the bright red BUG! (Now I'm a little sad...it is cute after all!)

Oh and thankfully Mr. P&P did NOT have a stroke when he heard the repair cost! WHEW!

My new ride?

Hi All,

Last night I went out after class and my beloved Acura MDX wouldn't start. It was flashing the green 'key light' which apparently means the key immobilizer system is malfunctioning. Ultimately, it started and was promptly dropped off at the dealership. This morning, Mr. P&P and I arrived there to get a loaner car and found they had none for us. In that case, our dealer contacts a local rental company and gets us a car until an Acura loaner is available and/or our own car is fixed. Sweet, right? Yes...and no.

As you know, I drive a massive, aforementioned, MDX. I love it. Love, love, love. It also holds all my Jazzercrap, which can, at times, become extensive.

Uh, no Acura MDX loaner available (they usually try and give you the same model you have) and the rental place only had....(are you ready?)
A bright red VW bug.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Now, am I thankful to have a vehicle to drive, for which I do not have to pay? YES

Am I thankful that I am not sitting at the dealership while they diagnose this crazy issue my car is having? YES

Do I feel like I'm driving a clown car? YES

Does all my Jazzercrap and Lilly's stuff fit in this car? Uh, barely.

Is it cute? Sure.

I just spoke to the dealer and the issue with my beloved MDX is a chaffed (is that spelled right?) wiring that goes from the body of my car to the lift gate. GAW. My car is chaffed! Awful! Jeez, I stopped chaffing about 80lbs. ago!

Anyway, we await the cost....and if they currently have the part or not. No part means car tomorrow, part means car later today. (Pray for later today, ok?) Because, seriously, I cannot fit my stuff in this car. The trunk barely fits my 2 Jazzerbags and Lilly's bag, much less my 2 bags of groceries.

Oh and, yes Dawn, I will post the pic of the Bug once it FINALLY arrives in my GD yahoo mailbox! So, wait for the update to this post!

Rainy Wednesday-as seen from the desk!

Hi All,
Yes, well, it's raining but...it's not snowing! It's sad really that the mere fact of it NOT snowing can make our days now. SIGH.
So wassup today?
I thought we'd try and have a weekly post about 'what goes on in the Jazz parking lot'...
Why?
Good question.
Here are some past highlights:
-Watching the McD's across the street go up in flames after installing a brand new HVAC unit. Then, watching the CPD blocking off a 2 block area for, seemingly, no reason and causing afternoon customers to walk over from Hannaford's because the CPD refused to remove the barracade 2 feet for them to get into our lot. "Ma'am, we have a perimeter." Uh, for what? The place is doused, the gas station next door is ok and I think you guys are just practicing for something big...now let my customers in here. (That was said in my head, not to the officer.)
-Being here doing email/paperwork and watching a man exit his car and pee in the corner outside our door, obviously thinking we were closed. We were not. Police called, man horrified to see ME as he turned around and NO I did NOT 'see anything'. (The police asked me 10x)
-Watching people fishing in the, ahem, lake we have adjacent to our parking lot. Yes, fishing. Did them catch/eat them? I do not even WANT to know.
-Seeing the shrubs near the street catch on fire and calling the CFD and waiting literally 15 mintues for them to arrive from right down the street. 1/2 block of shrubs ruined.
-Spying gypsies parked in our lot on a Saturday who decided it was a good idea to bring a loaf of bread and feed 10000 seagulls as our customers tried to walk from the parking lot into our facility. I had to address said gypsies and very nicely asked that they at least move to the end of the parking lot so the seagulls weren't directly OVER our entrance. K? Thanks.
-Watching salespeople exit their cars, enter every business trying to sell their crap and feeling satisfaction in having my door locked and just pointing at the 'no soliciting' sign and saying 'NO soliciting'. They always pull on the door multiple times and curse me, it's great!
-Watching an older lady park her HUGE buick over by the fence, then watching her back up all the way OVER the rock, getting her back wheels stuck in the air and, being that it was a REAR wheel drive car, the wheels just spinning, mid-air until the AAA guys got here.
-And then there was the Sunday morning when my car was parked (thankfully) near the fence and an older guy literally was parallel parking in between the brick columns (not sure why, we were the only place open) and he got his car STUCK in between the columns.
So, as you can see, STUFF goes on here when you're at work!
Today?
Not so much.
I've done my paperwork, learned my new routines, practiced my set, cleaned up the place a bit (as I do daily) and eaten lunch with Lilly. I've sorted Rykas for those who brought friends and earned FREE shoes and worked on a few future projects...
I'm lucky because I can do all this while looking outside. I know many folks are in cubicles and cannot see out. I sit here sometimes and I think, "Where are all those people going who drive by or stop in to get a bag of chinese food?" "I wonder where all those delivered pizzas are going from Papa J's".
I also get to think back to the early days when we moved in here. Let's see, only Evzon (the greek place), the pet store, the hair salon (that used to be next to us), Timbo's, the Seafood place (which was where Quizno's is now) and the liquor store were in here. The parking lot was NEVER full (it is a lot now) and it was kind of lonely. But, the other businesses you see (and some who've moved on already) came and it's gotten busier and less lonely over here.
And, I always feel lucky that we found this spot and have been fortunate enough to be here for 12 years. It's like a small town over here, we all watch out for each other. We have enough parking, plenty of dance space and it really is a second home to me. We hope it is to you all as well.
So, on this rainy and 'not so exciting day', I'm just feeling lucky to be here to see all the interesting things that go on in our parking lot every day!

Keeping it light...

HI Everyone,
Let's face it, the 'big bad world' out there is not bringing us much good news so today's blog post will be 'on the lighter side'...
1. Octo-Mom has a new home. (Who is relieved?) Yep, her Dad bought her a $550k home with 4 bdrms and 3 baths. Uh, Octo-Mom, you have 14 kids. That's 4.6 kids per bedroom IF you keep one bedroom for your own. Now, if you decide to sleep on the couch, unselfishly giving up ALL the bedrooms to your kiddos, that's only 3.5 kids per room. (Oh and there's a website reporting the older 6 are *not* happy about the new 8...really? Quelle Surprise!)
2. The movie "Pinocchio" marks it's 70th anniversary! NO lie!
3. The digital TV switcheroo has been delayed until June 17 so there's still time for you to get a converter box at Best Buy (because, as you know Circuit City is no more).
4. FIOS is coming to Chelmsford in May and Westford in June. (Lowell, I'm not sure about you...sorry!) Watch out Comcast, you're outta here.
5. You can now buy your AquaGlobes at CVS-oh and the Xmas ornaments are due out on the shelves any day now! HA
6. Melrose Place is returning to TV in an updated form (and don't pretend you didn't watch it when it was on first...). Will you watch or are we now too 'mature'? (TEEHEE)
7. Lilly can now put her paws up on our kitchen and bathroom counters. This morning? She put her paws on the bathroom vanity counter and saw herself and decided she didn't like that dog in the mirror and proceeded to bark at her. I had to show her "Mommy" in the mirror too and she finally realized she was looking at herself! Too funny!

Remember, laughter is the best medicine so come to class for a great workout and a good laugh!
See you soon!

Spring! Ahead

Hi All,
Well, it's been a week or so of warmer weather, then a foot of snow, then warmer weather. Monday 3/9? More snow. Seriously. Gaw!
Tonight?
SPRING your clocks ahead 1 hour and check those smoke and carbon monoxide detertor batteries ok?

I promise a better/more interesting post soon!
