New fangled things that rock!

HI All,
Happy Sunday!
New fangled (is that 2 words or 1, I don't know) but here goes anyway:
1. On Demand, I've never been a huge fan of Comcast but the On Demand feature? ROCKS. We like movies but not going to the theatre so much...we ordered The Blind Side today and what a great flick! If you've not seen it yet-order it ON DEMAND and watch it with your own bathroom, in your pj's whilst making cupcakes for your family!
2. FB. I know...some of you don't like Facebook/Twitter...all that. Trust me-THEY ROCK. I do not Twitter but I do FB and I have been looking for my elementary school friend, AK, FOREVA! (yes, that's with an A) I found her on FB and messaged to see if she wanted to catch up and if it was her. It was her and we're planning to start catching up! Can't wait! She was my bud during my Howard School days but since we moved and there was barely long distance phone calls, no cell phones, no email...we lost touch. SO EXCITED!

Thanks to ALL who came to class today-you guys make my life better every, single day!
See you soon!

2 questions...

HI All,
Well, the wind is blowing at, like, 100 mph, it's freezing and thank God the sun finally came out.
For about 1 hour this morning my cell phone decided (after 12 years with Verizon and no problems) to barely work this morning-I am thankful it was only for 1 hour. It's fine now.

So, 2 questions:
1. If I ask you (very clearly) for a small HAZELNUT iced coffee cream only, why do you repeat back to me MEDIUM FRENCH VANILLA iced coffee cream only? Just asking...the words 'hazelnut' and 'french vanilla' sound VERY different...to me.
2. When you're in the drive-thru and you give your order, and there is PLENTY of room for you to move up behind the car AT the window, why do you only move up a little so that only the front bumper of my car is in front of the speaker so there's no WAY the DD person can hear my order? Hmmm? Remember, you CAN move all the way up, you just move up a little...Move up-ALL the way so the next person can give their order. (Then see #1-where you can now repeat your order 2x before they get it right.)
SIGH.

R E S P E C T...find out what it means

Hi All,
We had a wonderful, hard working Circuit class last night and you all did awesome!
Sprinkled into our hard work was the fact that there was a horrifying display of DIS-respect on the TV news over the weekend. That's right, U.S. Senators and Congresspeople were spat upon, called vile names and generally disrespected.
Not nice.
Look, we do NOT have to agree people-ever. Our Country was founded upon disagreement and dissent. But not on disrespect.
So, our Country is changing-it has to and it always has. Some will like it, some will not. But, we CAN respect each other's views, listen and work together towards the common goal-which I think is for us all to have a good life, give our children a good life, be safe, work hard and love each other.
Think about it this way-whether you are religious/spiritual or not, when you go to your Final Judgement, for what will YOU have to answer?
Will you have to explain why you called people names who disagreed with you?
Will you have to explain why you didn't listen, didn't care and pretended you didn't see suffering?
Lord knows none of us is perfect and certainly none of us 'knows it all'...but when you talk to your neighbor, your co-worker, your friend...listen and realize that THEY have trying to have the same things you are, so that should be a starting point for AGREEMENT.
Oh and let's remember something-we're all HUMAN and I think many of us have forgotten the Golden Rule we all learned in kindergarten:
Treat others the way you, yourself want to be treated.
No one can spit on that.

Hard work pays off!

Hi Everyone,
Spring has definitely sprung and I cannot resist reminding everyone that this is *not* the time to give up on your workouts. Add walking/playing outside with the kids or friends TO your workouts, not in place of them. We'll keep you challenged, laughing and in shape all Spring/Summer long.
And..............
We have a BRAND NEW instructor-Kristine!
The hard work in the title goes for all of you and Kristine!
First, you...
You've worked hard all winter in class-you've come multiple times a week, worked hard while you're here and started seeing healthy benefits inside and out. So why would you throw all that hard work away by blowing off class now? It's takes only SIX SHORT WEEKS to lose all the hard work you've done-don't do that to yourself! Maybe reduce your number of classes per week to get outside a bit more, without sacrificing all the work you've done! You can do it! And we are here to help. Coming even ONCE a week pays off!
Second, Kristine...
Every time we mentor a new instructor (Kristine is #23) their journey is as different as they are. Some girls get really nervous, some do not. Some girls struggle a bit learning their routines, to some it comes more easily. Most cry at least once during the process, it's hard, stressful, but definitely worth all the hard work.
I didn't know Kristine too well when we started working together. I knew she was quiet, sweet and loved J. She was always supportive and smiling.
What I learned is that she has a heart of gold and I still think she is sweet, supportive and loves J...but I also learned that she is ambitious and does NOT give up. She is committed, caring and is going to work your butts off!
Hearing her on the phone last night-excitedly telling me she passed was a joyous moment. She has worked so hard and all her hard work and dedication has paid off. And, for me, I always feel like I am so lucky-I'm getting a new Jazzer-daughter. We are now the proud parents of 11 and it certainly is a wild ride...in a great way.
So, here's to Kristine-our newest instructor. She may be little and quiet but watch out...she's got a mighty roar in there!

Back to "Ladies days"

Hi Everyone,
Guys...red alert, this one's not for you either...

There's 2 ladies on the View (watching online) that wrote a book about the history of menstruation...
And back in the olden days women were taught to, ahem, clean afterwards with.................................................
Lysol.
Yes, there.
Yes, the lysol we all currently use to clean our bathrooms.
WTF?

2 steps forward...

HI Everyone,
We hope you enjoyed the fabulous weekend weather and I was so impressed to see so many of you in class-keep it up! You'll feel better keeping up with your workouts even as the weather gets warmer!

So, sometimes life throws you a curveball and, at times, it's hard to handle. BUT, how you handle it shows your real character...
We've been thrown many curveballs over the 16 years of our business and this year is no exception but we're rising to the occasion, remembering what's important and making sure we take care of our clients, staff and...ourselves.

I love that saying, "When life gives you lemons..." or the one that says, "When God closes a door He opens a window..."
They are true but, again, easy to apply to others and harder to apply to oneself.
So, today it's one day at a time, trying to make our best decisions, keeping our goals in sight.
Oh and the mini eggs definitely help!
HAHA
See you in class.

Food for thought

Hi Everyone,
We had 2 GREAT classes this morning and now I'm hanging with Lilly...had a nice chat with GK after class too!
We talked in class about intensity and sticking WITH working out all summer long. As the Spring weather starts calling us outside, let's all remember the sun does not suck fat off your body-if it did I would surely already be back in SoCal! It takes only 6 SHORT weeks to lose all the work you've done!
Along with the intensity talk-what would you do if you did NOT have any limits?
Many people stop at the top of the aerobic curve and 'need' a drink or 'need' to go to the bathroom. Now, we'd NEVER tell you that you cannot go to the bathroom or get a drink, but many folks do it because they are 'afraid' of their top heartrate and get scared when it starts to rise. (And have NO medical reason to be concerned, FYI.) So, would you push yourself if you felt you had NO limits? We would never want you to work too hard but, if you can breathe (and not sound like a dirty phone call)...you're fine. Stop being AFRAID to push yourself. Pushing yourself means you're becoming more fit and THAT is the point!
We all put way to many limits or labels on ourselves...for instance, "I'm 50, I can't do that." or "I'm out of shape."
People who are in shape aren't born that way, BTW! And, your age? PULEEZE...JB started with us at aged 65, she's now 73 and she's VERY fit, so, about age-SHUT UP.
"I don't have time" "My kids are home in the summer"
Time? You don't have time NOT to workout because, if you don't, it shortens your life. How's that for time?
Your kids are home in the summer? What, you need to watch them 24/7? For the little ones who NEED supervision we have babysitting at morning weekday classes-for the older ones who CAN safely stay at home for a bit...let them learn some responsibility, stop babying them. How will they learn to be independent if you don't teach them? Are you planning on going to college WITH them? Are you planning on them living at home FOREVER? I think not. Mom it is OK for you to have a little time for yourself! Oh and DAD can be with his kids while you're here-they ARE his kids too and, no, it's not babysitting if they are HIS KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"I can't dance I have two left feet"
Uh, so? You don't need to be a dancer to do J.
Folks...keep the excuses coming, there are NONE that are good enough for not working out. We have a lot of laughs, we learn a lot from each other and we get a GREAT workout.
Even if you only come 1x per week in the warmer months, it's WAY better than ZERO. Adjust...come early in the AM or later at night. Come on weekends only or during the week only...YOU CAN DO IT. Stop saying you can't.
Because, if you say can't...you're probably right. Think about that.

First signs of Spring?

HI Everyone,

We hope you're having a great week! Class last night ROCKED-you guys worked so hard, I'm so proud of you! Many mentioned they did another activity on Sunday, when we were closed for our meeting...that's great!

Are we seeing the first signs of Spring?

-Stay light out later

-Not having to wear socks and a big sweatshirt in the house to avoid a chill

-Saw a motorcycle today on the road

-Saw the first Cardinal

He crossed in front of me so that's good luck, right? Boy I hope so.

Tonight BL is back, so make sure you don't miss it! And...RH of NYC starts Thursday night-tune in, it looks like a wild ride!

Hope you're all enjoying the new music from our new set...

See you in class!

Mirror, Mirror on the wall...

Hi All,
We missed seeing you all yesterday while we were at our District meeting. It was at the fabulous Biltmore in Providence and our DM did a GREAT job. The food was yummy and there was plenty of water and wonderful desserts.
We have some GREAT upcoming promotional items including a Mother's Day take on our 12 Days of Fitness...you'll get a SO CUTE coin purse with 12 classes to give someone for Mother's Day! Really, it's adorable so your Mother's Day shopping is done! (We'll let you know when you can start purchasing these...)
For Summer, we'll have a TEAM attendance game where all you do is ATTEND CLASS (easy) and you and your teammate can win some (again) SO CUTE flip flops in a cute carry bag.
So, here's your job this week:
1. Decide to whom you want to give the Mother's day gift
2. Find a teammate for our Summer game (start looking around class to see who comes ALL THE TIME)
Remember, ALL items are while supplies last so once you see we've got them...GET THEM!

Ok, onto today's topic...
As stated we had our meeting yesterday and I'm always intrigued about what people will wear. Some folks dress as if they are going to 'da club' any minute and, frankly, that is NOT business casual people. If I can see your belly at a business meeting it's time to visit Stacey and Clinton (What Not to Wear). Uh, leg warmers do NOT go on your arms...and FYI we don't wear leg warmers at the big J.
And, stop being so insecure...you're not here to impress anyone just dress nicely, flatter your figure and stop strutting around like it's a fashion show. We are J instructors...we live in workout wear so I do understand wanting to dress up but please.
Yesterday was about celebrating our success from last year, learning something to help us be more successful this year and thanking the most FABULOUS associates on the planet:
Liz, Lyn, Patti, Maripat, Jessica, Jill, Kristen, Kara, Tammy and Tina.
That was my focus. (Oh and if you're wondering, I wore dark jeans, ballet flats, a navy/khaki polka dotted blouse and a chocolate brown cord blazer...I didn't embarrass you do not worry!)
Thank you to all of YOU as well for coming to class, bringing your smiles, referring your friends and supporting our business these last almost 16 years...without you we'd be working a desk job and not loving what we do!
A favorite saying is...
Success is a journey, not a destination. Thank you for making our journey so special...and here's to at least 16 more years of our journey.
